This summer, you can experience history hands-on until 20th October!
Because of high demand, the Great War Open Air Museum on Mt. Lagazuoi has decided to prolong the guided tours with a historical re-enactor this year. Originally scheduled daily from June to 1st September, the tours will now be offered every weekend until 20th October.
The re-enactor not only wears an accurate reproduction of the original Alpine soldier's uniform in full kit but also vividly portrays the high-altitude warfare between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies on Mount Lagazuoi, providing a tangible representation of historical events. By recreating the atmosphere of the First World War in the Dolomites, the re-enactor brings the visitors closer to all aspects of military and civilian life during that period and acquaints them with the background to the dramatic events of the past.
To experience history hands-on, book a guided tour with our historical re-enactor on the summit of Mount Lagazuoi.
The WW1 open-air museum is situated at the top of Mt. Lagazuoi. You can reach it by taking the Lagazuoi cable car or walking along the Frontline Trail for about an hour and a half.
