Temporary closure of the road connecting San Cassiano and the Valparola Pass

*** IMPORTANT VIABILITY INFORMATION ***
As of 16th September 2024, the state road 37 connecting San Cassiano and the Valparola Pass will be temporarily closed for maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
The route >>> from Cortina d’Ampezzo to the Falzarego Pass will remain unaffected and open to traffic.
While the closure is in effect, the Falzarego Pass can be reached >>> from the Badia Valley via the Corvara - Campolongo - Arabba - Pieve di Livinallongo route.
The Lagazuoi cable car will be running normally until 20th October.
The road work has been in progress for months. The closure is necessary to rapidly complete the work on a section of approximately 1.7 km.
This stretch of the pass road, which runs along the border between South Tyrol and the province of Belluno, has been subject to landslides and avalanches in recent years, and hence will not only be stabilised but also partially relocated.
A cycle path will also be built to improve safety on this Dolomite pass, a dream destination for many road cyclists.
