Suggestive inauguration event on Mt. Sasso di Stria

On Thursday, October 18th, a stunning sunny autumn day, surrounded by the fascinating colours of a golden October in the Dolomites, the new Via Ferrata Sottotenente Fusetti on Mt. Sasso di Stria was inaugurated.

More than 50 mountain enthusiasts attended the first official ascent, accompanied by the General Commander of the Italian Mountain Troops, General C.A. Claudio Berto with a group of his Alpini and Cortina's mountain guides  received a diploma for this achievement from the Alpine Troops Command. 

The moving ceremony was attended by representatives of the Italian Mountain Troops, of the Municipalities of Cortina d'Ampezzo and Livinallongo, the Regole d'Ampezzo, the Committee of Cengia Martini-Lagazuoi, the Association of the Italian Alpine Troops A.N.A. (Alpini), the Italian Alpine Club C.A.I., the mountain guides and the mountain rescue of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

In front of the memorial stone dedicated to Second Lieutenant Mario Fusetti, posthumously awarded a Gold Medal of Military Valour, the programme included the presentation of military honours, the laying of a laurel wreath at the foot of the memorial stone and the blessing of the commemorative plaque, which will be installed at the entrance of the via ferrata at a later date.
