Historical re-enactment in the open air museum of World War 1

1918-2018 / Le Dolomiti ricordano: The Dolomites remember WW1

Historical re-enactments at the Open Air Museums Lagazuoi and 5 Torri:
part of the commenoration events marking a century since the First World War ended

Don't miss the unique opportunity to receive interesting explanations and satisfy any curiosity concerning WW1 on the Dolomite front by passionate historians on Saturday 11th  and Sunday 12th August.

Saturday 11th  August - Mt Lagazuoi
Museological setups and representations will demonstrate live the soldiers' life in high-altitude military camps. The re-enactors will be happy to illustrate  their uniforms and equipment and provide historical explanations. 

Sunday 12th August  - 5 Torri
A group of 70 re-enactors from all over the world will recreate aspects of World War 1 with museological setups and representations.
 

POGRAMME AT 5 TORRI on Sunday 12th August

  • 9 a.m.: gathering of the re-enactors, lining-up and saluting the flag
  • 9.20 a.m.:  ascent to the open air museum 5 Torri by chairlift 
  • 10.30 a.m.: Holy Mass service in front of a mobile war altar celebrated by the priest Don Alessandro wearing a historical uniform
  • 12 / noon:  the re-enactors eat their lunch “military rations” from mess kits from the First World War
