A new lift facility interlinks Cortina, the 5 Torri and Falzarego-Lagazuoi ski areas, and the surrounding valleys
The Cortina Ski Area has become more joined-up, thanks to the new 2-way Cortina Skyline gondola lift connecting the ski areas to the right of Cortina d'Ampezzo: on the one side, Socrepes, Pocol and Tofana, and on the other side, 5 Torri, Averau, Falzarego and Lagazuoi.
It runs from Son dei Prade (Pocol, at the bottom of the Tofana di Mezzo area) via the intermediate station Cianzopè to the Bai de Dones top station (at the bottom of the 5 Torri area).
This 4.6km long, 15-minute gondola ride connects these previously separate areas, once only accessible via the Great Dolomites Road. The ski bus at the top station of the Olimpia chairlift has been replaced by this gondola lift.
Now, skiers can reach the ski areas Col Gallina, 5 Torri and Falzarego-Lagazuoi from Cortina on skis via the Croda Negra chairlift. Without relying on a car or public transportation, starting from Pocol, and even directly from the centre of Cortina d'Ampezzo, by using the Freccia nel Cielo cable car first.
From Mt. Lagazuoi, they can either return to Cortina via the red Lagazuoi slope or ski down the stunning Armentarola red run, where horse-drawn sleighs pull them across an uphill section into the Alta Badia ski area for a small fee.
From Armentarola, buses and taxi buses bring skiers back to Cortina.
The Cortina Skyline gondola lift provides more freedom of movement between the slopes connecting Cortina and the Badia Valley and, furthermore, makes it easier to reach the access points to the ski routes Super8 Ski Tour and Great War Ski Tour.
